I’m Zyrah Maclan, an Instructional Designer and Learning Experience Designer who believes learning should feel clear, useful, and less overwhelming. I design learning experiences that help people understand what to do, why it matters, and how to apply it with confidence.

 

My path into learning design grew from roles in training, technical support, operations, and communication. In those roles, I often helped people figure out what to do next, which taught me that people do not just need more information. They need structure, guidance, and tools they can actually use.

 

That is what I enjoy most about learning design. I like taking messy information, finding the pattern, and turning it into a clear path forward for the learner.

Through my MS in Learning Design and Technology and applied project work, I have developed skills in course design, eLearning, performance support, scenario-based learning, assessment, accessibility, and AI-assisted learning tools. These experiences helped me design learning solutions for different audiences, including adult learners, volunteers, and teens.

Outside of learning design, I’m also a mom, a lifelong learner, and someone who knows what it feels like to rebuild a career in a new country. Those experiences shape the way I design. They remind me that learning can feel overwhelming when people are navigating something unfamiliar, and that clear guidance can make a big difference.

Today, I bring together my background in training, support, communication, and learner-centered design to create learning experiences that are practical, organized, and easy to use in real situations.
