Branching Scenario Game: Deputy Coordinator Decision Practice

Overview

This branching scenario game gives Deputy Coordinators a safe place to practice decisions they may face while supporting the ATD San Diego Mentorship Program, including event preparation, participant questions, missing information, and communication with the Director of Mentorship.

Purpose / Intended Audience

This game was designed for new or future Deputy Coordinators who need practice applying role expectations in realistic situations, especially when deciding what they can handle independently and when they should ask the Director of Mentorship for guidance.

Process

I identified situations in which Deputy Coordinators may need to make decisions, communicate with participants, or ask the Director of Mentorship for guidance. I developed branching choices with feedback that helps learners understand the possible consequences of each response and recognize when they can act independently or need additional support.

Outcome

The completed game gives learners a low-risk way to practice judgment and communication before facing similar situations during the mentorship program. It demonstrates my ability to turn role expectations into realistic scenario-based practice with meaningful feedback.

Design Reflection

The main challenge was creating realistic choices without making the correct response too obvious. I used situations involving incomplete information, participant questions, and event preparation to encourage learners to think through the consequences of their decisions. This reinforced how scenario-based learning can support judgment and communication skills beyond simple recall.
